There are moments in motherhood that stay with you forever. Moments when time seems to stop. Moments when a few words can suddenly change everything you imagined for your child.

For me, one of those moments was hearing that my son had clubfoot.

At the time, I didn’t know where this journey would take us. I didn’t know about the appointments, casts, braces, questions, worries, milestones, setbacks, or victories that would become part of our life.I just knew that I was his mom, and I was going to fight the fight with him the whole way.

That journey eventually became my book, Stepping Forward With Steadfast Love: Navigating Clubfoot Diagnosis With Resilience.

Version 1.0.0

When Your Baby Is Diagnosed With Clubfoot

When you’re told that your baby has clubfoot, your mind can immediately fill with questions:

What does this mean? Will my child walk normally? Will he be able to run and play?

Will he be in pain?

What will treatment look like?

And maybe the biggest question of all, Is my baby going to be okay?

I remember what it felt like to have questions and uncertainty about what was ahead. There is plenty of medical information available about clubfoot treatment, but sometimes that’s not what a parent needs most.

Sometimes you need another mother to say:

I’ve been where you are. I understand why you’re scared. And there is hope on the other side of this.

That’s one of the biggest reasons I wanted to write this book.

This Isn’t Just a Book About Clubfoot

Yes, Stepping Forward With Steadfast Love tells the story of our experience with clubfoot. But at its heart, this book is about something much bigger. It’s about motherhood. It’s about resilience. It’s about advocating for your child when you aren’t sure what comes next. It’s about finding strength on the days when you don’t feel particularly strong. And it’s about discovering that sometimes the journey you never would have chosen becomes one of the most meaningful chapters of your life.

Our story had difficult moments.

But it also had beautiful ones.

There were milestones that might have seemed ordinary to someone else but meant absolutely everything to us. There were moments when I looked at my son and realized just how far he had come. And eventually, I realized something else.

His diagnosis was part of his story, but it was never going to define his story.

The Little Boy Behind the Book

When I look back at pictures of my son as a baby and compare them with the boy he is today, there are so many emotions.

I see that tiny baby.

I see the casts.

I see the braces.

I remember the appointments.

I remember the questions.

I remember the worry.

But now I also get to see everything that came next.

I see him growing.

Playing sports.

Laughing.

Running.

Living his life.

And I wish I could go back to the version of myself who was standing at the beginning of this journey and show her those pictures.

I would tell her: Look at him. He’s going to be okay. That is the message I hope another parent finds inside this book.

The Letters That Mean the Most to Me

One of the most personal parts of Stepping Forward With Steadfast Love is the letters to my son.

These weren’t simply added to tell the story differently.

They are pieces of my heart.

They’re the things I want him to know about this journey—the things he was too young to remember himself.

I want him to know how brave he was. I want him to understand how deeply he was loved through every stage. And I want him to know that something difficult in his life became a way to help someone else.

Readers have told me that these letters are one of the parts of the book that stayed with them most. One reader described them as a special way to preserve the challenges we faced and a memory my son can be proud of forever.

That means more to me than I can put into words.

Turning Something Difficult Into Something Meaningful

I didn’t choose clubfoot. I wouldn’t have chosen the worry or uncertainty that came along with it.But I could choose what I did with our experience.

While I was learning how to navigate this journey for my own family, I kept thinking about other parents who would someday hear the same diagnosis. The mother sitting at home searching for answers. The expectant parent lying awake wondering what life will look like for their baby.

The family walking into an appointment without knowing what questions they should ask.I wanted our experience to mean something for them, too.

What began as one family’s difficult chapter eventually became an opportunity to share information, encouragement, vulnerability, and—most importantly—hope.

For the Parent Who Just Heard the Word “Clubfoot”

If you found this blog post because your baby was recently diagnosed with clubfoot, I want you to know something. You don’t have to have every answer today. It’s okay to have questions. It’s okay to be overwhelmed. It’s okay if you’re searching for every piece of information you can find.

Take this journey one step at a time. There may be hard days ahead, but there can also be so many beautiful ones. One day you may look back at the beginning of this journey and realize just how far your child—and you—have come.

Why I Wrote Stepping Forward With Steadfast Love

I wrote this book for my son.I wrote it so he would always have the story of how his journey began and how fiercely he was loved through every part of it.

But I also wrote it for you. For the mom who needs reassurance. For the parent searching “clubfoot diagnosis” late at night. For the family wondering what happens next. For the person who wants to better understand what someone they love is experiencing.

And even for someone who has never experienced clubfoot but understands what it means to love a child through something difficult.Because ultimately, this isn’t simply a story about a diagnosis.

It’s a story about what happens after the diagnosis. It’s about a little boy who kept moving forward. It’s about a family that learned resilience along the way.And it’s about a mother’s steadfast love through every step.

Our Story Became a Book

There was a time when I couldn’t see beyond the uncertainty in front of us. Today, I can look at my son and see how incredibly far we’ve come. And now I can hold our journey in my hands.

Stepping Forward With Steadfast Love: Navigating Clubfoot Diagnosis With Resilience is our story, but my hope is that it becomes something more. I hope it becomes reassurance for a scared parent. I hope it helps someone feel less alone. I hope it gives families a glimpse of what may be waiting on the other side of those difficult early days. And most of all, I hope it reminds parents to believe and have hope, when they’re standing at the beginning of the journey.

A diagnosis may become part of your child’s story, but it does not have to define their future.

Our journey started with uncertainty. It continued with steadfast love.

And somewhere along the way, it became a story worth sharing.

This is our story.

From our family to yours, I hope it brings you hope.
