Art projects are the perfect way to add some sensory stimulation into your toddlers day. I have found some of the easiest ones that you can do with your kids.

Here are 10 Thanksgiving art craft for your toddler:

1. Paper Plate Turkey

I’ve always been a fan of making art with paper plates. As an elementary educator paper plate art is easy to create and the kids love it! For this craft you use dot paints or the tip of a fat paintbrush (dot paints are easier). You just dab orange, red and yellow all over the plate. Then glue the brown construction paper shaped like a turkey head, an orange triangle for a nose and a red goblet. Then glue large google eyes.

2. Tissue Paper Turkey

Again here is a perfect use of a paper plate. For this particular craft you need a large paper plate and a small one. Paint them both brown. Cut feathers out of different color construction paper. Pick the same color tissue paper for each feather and crumple the pieces and then glue them on (it’s easier if they are squares but it’s not necessary). Triangle beak and a red goblet are the finishing touches before the large goggly eyes are glued on.

Using tissue paper as an art project is great for Occupational therapy skills and sensory seeking toddlers.

3. Thanksgiving Wreathe

You can use a piece of construction paper to cut out the weather, but a paper plate is way more sturdy. To cut the center out of the plate just fold it in half and cut out the middle. Then you need large pieces of tissue paper and scrunch them up into the plate, Using Elmer’s glue will hold the tissue paper better. You will need a hot glue gun to hold the flowers.

6. Turkey Leaf Art

Toddlers love to explore and learn. This Thanksgiving craft is a perfect opportunity to have your toddler explore outside. They can even go on a leaf hunt. Find as many different kinds of leaves as you can and then your’e all set for your art project. Cut out a brown circle from construction paper Hot glue the leaves behind the circle around the edges. When complete add the orange triangle for a beak, and red goblet. Last the googly eyes.

7. Tissue Paper Pumpkin Pie

Get your little one learning vocabulary and introduce them to different pie flavors. You can read them a story first and the create their favorite pie. All you need is a quarter of a paper plate, orange tissue paper squares, 2 cotton balls and brown pieces of construction paper.

8. Corn on the Cob Paint

This is great for those sensory seeking toddlers. All you need is corn (not cooked), and paint. Dip it in the paint and roll it over the paper. Ya sure, it might be a little messy but toddlers love messy, and they will be super happy when they are done!

9. Acorn Turkey Craft

This acorn craft really taps into a toddlers fine motor skills. You can use acorns you found on the ground, but you can find acorns in craft stores such as Michaels or, as always Amazon.

  3. Pipe cleaners
  4. Construction paper
  5. Hot glue gun

10. Turkey Donut Craft

This craft is not only creative but it encourages fine motor skills, but it’s also extremely delicious. You can use mini donuts or regular donuts, that’s you call. Add some toothpicks and fruit loop cheerios. It’s every toddlers wildest dream!

There are many crafts that are themed for fall or Thanksgiving that your toddler would love. I have chose 10 crafts that are very sensory based. As an easy childhood teacher, I have found that sensory activities were always the most engaging ones for your little one.
