Creating a vision board for kids is a fun and interactive activity that ignites their creativity while helping them set goals and explore their dreams. It’s never to early to teach kids the power of their thoughts and how vision boards have so much power in creating their reality.

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to get started:
1.Gather Supplies
Start by collecting everything you need for the vision board. This typically includes things like poster board, glue, scissors, colorful markers, magazines, photos, stickers, and any other decorative items. Make sure everything is kid-friendly and age-appropriate.

2.Brainstorm Dreams and Goals
Sit down with your child and talk about their interests, aspirations, and what makes them happy. Encourage them to think about activities, places, or experiences they’d like to have in the future. For younger kids, you can guide them by asking specific questions like, “What do you want to learn this year?” or “What’s one thing that makes you really excited?” ” Are there anything that you dream about or think about that you want?”
You can quickly jot it down for them, or if they can write it down themselves that works too. The point is to just get the idea down so we can move onto the next steps. Maybe write each idea on a post ir=t or index card so it will be easier to move around and place together in groups.
3. Create Categories
Divide the Vision board into sections or themes like “Family,” “School Goals,” “Hobbies,” or “Things I Love.” This makes it easier for kids to organize their ideas and keeps the board clear and easy to follow. You can maybe even add a section for “Things I want”. Here you might want to consider some specific motivation words, sayings or quotes to also play around the board for extra inspiration.
4.Choose Visuals
You can get visual images from many different places. Try looking through magazines, print images that align with your child’s vision and goals, or even a simple drawing will do. Pictures, words, and quotes that resonate with their dreams can all be included. Encourage them to be honest and pick visuals that truly inspire and excite them.
5.Build the Vision Board
Now that you have everything you will need you are ready to start the creation on the actual vision board. Help your child arrange their pictures and words on the board in a way that feels right to them. There’s no wrong way to do this — the board should reflect their personal style and vision. You can place them all over the board randomly, or by categories. Make sure to use both words and pictures.
6.Decorate and Personalize Your Vision Board
Make the vision board their own. Add some stickers, glitter, or drawings to make the board uniquely theirs. This is the perfect opportunity for kids to put their personalities into their creation. Colors and items they like, put your name all fun and fancy, maybe even sports themes they like. Get creative and make it their own.
7.Display the Vision Board
Once completed, display the vision board in a place where your child can see it daily. This will serve as a constant reminder of their dreams and a source of inspiration to keep working toward them.
Making a vision board isn’t just about setting goals — it’s also a wonderful bonding activity that fosters communication and creative expression. Most importantly, it empowers kids to visualize their future and feel excited about the possibilities ahead!
